Rye jigsaw

Today was a bit odd as we could not really go out for a discovery for somewhere new in Surrey to explore. Jane’s sister’s family was on hols and they were expecting a delivery of beds in the afternoon at some point. The weather was pretty rubbish with on and off heavy downpours mixed with drizzle. So with not much plamned on the cards, we decided to tackle a jigsaw that we had bought a couple of months back. It was a jigsaw of the little village of Rye, Sussex. It seemed the right thing to do as we both did not want to go out in the gloomy day.

We chose Rye as the Jigsaw as we’ll be away there over Christmas. This year will mark my 10 year anniversary of going away (well almost) at Christmas. For the last 9 years I have spent 7 years in Rye, one in Hastings and one forced year staying in London due to work commitments.

The picture is of Mermaid Street and is the centre piece of the village, with its steep cobble stones stteet and the Mermaid hotel and pub, dripping with history of ghosts, smugglers and secret tunnels.

We messed around on and off the jigsaw over the weekend until it was completed. It was nice talking about what we are going to do and plan ahead. Going away to Rye is a really nice way to an end a year, especially with grey rain hitting the windows of the lounge makes thinks of cosy real fires and mugs of mulled cider.
